All of our small-batch, handcrafted, spirits are made on our property in McVeytown, Pennsylvania.
Family
It all began with the love of a father. Charles and Kristy Knouse have 5 children. As the children have gotten older, Charles has looked for ways to spend more time with them. Life moves fast, takes unexpected turns, and tomorrow is never promised. With that in mind, he started a winery, ReKlaimed Vines. This has grown into a great family business over the past few years. His oldest son Jamie was able to come to work full time making wine. However, this was not his passion.
Dreams
Jamie wanted something he could call his own and have a little more artistic freedom. This thought led Charles and Jamie to pursue the art of distilling. Together they have studied the process of making spirits. Once they were sure they wanted to pursue this dream, Charles located a hand-crafted, 100 gallon still, in Colorado. He was able to procure the still and start the licensing process.
Hopes
Defiant Distillery was born out of a love of family and fun. We hope that comes across in our products. Every bottle is handcrafted by our family. The alcohol is distilled here in McVeytown on our property. Our flavored neutral spirits are our own creations with fun names that we have come up with around the dinner table. We call that a board meeting. Our hope is that our products bring you as much joy as they have brought us while creating them.
